外側前頭底動脈 Arteria frontobasalis lateralis

解剖学的特徴

• 中大脳動脈の頭部（M1部）の前方から分岐する皮質枝の一つである (Rhoton, 2002)。
• 前頭葉眼窩面外側部および前頭葉底面外側部を灌流する (Yasargil, 1984)。
• 主に前頭葉外側皮質（ブロードマン8野、9野、46野の一部）を支配する (Ono et al., 1990)。
• 前大脳動脈の軌道前頭枝と吻合を形成する場合がある (Türe et al., 2000)。

臨床的意義

• 脳梗塞により、前頭葉機能障害（実行機能障害、意欲低下など）を引き起こす可能性がある (Kumral et al., 2009)。
• 脳動脈瘤の好発部位の一つとして知られている (Yasargil, 1984)。
• 脳血管撮影での同定が、手術計画において重要である (Gibo et al., 1981)。

解剖学的変異

• 分岐のパターンや走行に、個人差が存在する (Umansky et al., 1984)。
• 稀に、中大脳動脈島部（M2）から分岐する例も報告されている (Tanriover et al., 2004)。
